Punk Before Punk

A rare discovery leads to what may be known as the originators of "punk rock", and what better news than finding out it was born here in Detroit Rock City! Which obviously makes a lot of sense. (Although we all know that the MC5 and Iggy & the Stooges were the true originals)

The chief of "police" is making strides trying to "Manhattanize" or, push the criminals into sectors for future stop and frisks, alpr, and beatings. Unfortunately, he has to deal with things like this in one of the most heavily surveilled area of town: "The Freep is reminding everyone that two of downtown's most well-known fountains are dry. At Hart Plaza, the iconic Horace E. Dodge and Son Memorial Fountain is still damaged from a nasty bout of vandalism sustained earlier this year. Simultaneously, the fountains of GM Plaza behind the RenCen have been shut off by the building's management company to perform maintenance. While it seems unlikely that the GM Plaza fountains will be down for an extended period of time, Hart Plaza is another story. Vandals did over $1M in damage to the park in January, up to $400,000 of that damage was to the fountain itself." http://detroit.curbed.com/archives/2013/07/hart-plaza-and-the-rencen-fountains-less-than-gushing.php
